![]() This is now the sixth delay for Skull and Bones since it was announced in 2013 and then being completely rebuilt from the ground up a couple years back. This is all due to net revenue expected to be down over 10% year on year instead of being up 10%, a vast difference of 20%. Skull and Bones, which was supposed to release March 9, is not going to release 2023-2024. The net earnings were expected to be at 830 million euro for Q3 2022-2023, but instead came in at over 100 million below expected at 725 million due to poor performance from Mario + Rabbids and Just Dance 2023. We are facing contrasted market dynamics as the industry continues to shift towards mega-brands and everlasting live games, in the context of worsening economic conditions affecting consumer spending. We are clearly disappointed by our recent performance. According to CEO Yves Guillemot, he stated that: This savings will be achieved through what Ubisoft calls “natural attrition” along with targeted restructuring and distribution of assets. Despite their success with franchises such as Rainbow Six: Siege and Assassin’s Creed, they are still looking to cut costs by approximately $200 million over the next two years. The software giant has undergone several challenges and attempted takeovers the last several years in their bid to remain an independent company. In addition, Skull & Boneshas now been delayed to next year with a release window of 2023/2024. ![]() These are on top of the 4 from this past July, bringing the total to 7 cancelled IP in just the last six months alone. At least there seems to be plenty of time to go through the first installment while we wait for Ubisoft to start publicly marketing Beyond Good and Evil 2 again.Ubisoft announced as part of an investor conference call today that they are cancelling three, unannounced games. The problem here is that we’re still waiting on new information to emerge regarding Beyond Good and Evil 2 since it was last showcased. So it’s safe to assume the games which have already received a public reveal are still being worked on today. Likewise, the games canceled were productions that were not actively showcased to the public. ![]() While some fans feel that this is a game stuck in development hell, it’s at least noted that Ubisoft hasn’t stopped production. That’s always the chance that the developers opted to rework the game once again. At the current moment, the game appears to be happening before the events of Beyond Good and Evil, but again it’s been a long while now since we’ve seen the title. It was only back in 2018 that we were given another look at the game, which seems to be taking a prequel approach. ![]() Beyond Good and Evil 2 has been teased since 2009. This is another one of those games that just can’t seem to escape development. But that’s about all we’ve got so far when it comes to the title. According to a spokesperson for Ubisoft, the development of Beyond Good and Evil 2 is unaffected. Ubisoft provided a new statement on the game IP to PCGamesN. At least, that’s a project which Ubisoft won’t be killing off yet. It seems that fans who have been waiting on Beyond Good and Evil 2 won’t find the game getting killed off. While Ubisoft is going through some turmoil with the latest round of cancellations and yet another delay for Skull and Bones, there is one saving grace. But today, we’re finding out that there is still hope for the long-awaited second installment to Beyond Good and Evil. In addition, we know that there have been three unannounced games that Ubisoft killed off, and on top of that, there was another pushback for the anticipated Skull and Bones title. If you haven’t already heard by now, Ubisoft has not had the greatest sales numbers lately, resulting in several cuts. It was just yesterday that we heard some less-than-stellar news happening over at the company. Ubisoft has been taking quite a bit of heat lately.
